The 1st Day...

My kids both started school recently... my daughter to kindergarten and my son to pre-k. Those days are always so bittersweet. I'm so proud of them and absolutely love celebrating all their milestones and "firsts."  However, it's so hard to let go of my babies, admitting that they're getting older and that every day they need me a little bit less. They did not start school on the same day. My daughter started on a Wednesday and my son the following Thursday but both were equally as excited for their big days. I LOVE these kids more than words and even though I realize that goes with out saying, I mean, I'm their mom so of course I love them. But what I'm actually saying is that with every success, every first, every milestone, the amount of pride I feel is overwhelming. To watch a little person that you've loved since before they were born, grow and blossom into little people is by far the coolest thing I've ever witnessed. I remember wondering as they lay swaddled in my arms what their personalities would be like. What would they look like. What it would sound like to hear them laugh. How would I feel when they were old enough to leave the comfort and security of home to start school.

Now I know. And it's better than I thought it would be <3
