I've made it a mission of mine to explore my camera and to dare to venture into manual mode more in an attempt to expand my creativity. With 2 small children, it's so easy to set it to auto and just shoot but I find that I don't always get the photo that I was hoping I would. So, in an attempt to develop new skills and gain knowledge, I responded to a post by a local photographer who was looking for an intern to assist him with some weddings and would, in turn, make himself available to help develop the persons' photographic craft.
I eagerly responded, expressing my interest to become a more versatile photographer. We met at a coffee shop, discussed details, and I'm very pleased to say that I was able to tag along with him to his first wedding of the season this past Saturday! It was a thrilling experience for me to see how much goes on behind the scenes as a professional wedding photographer, and I'm so grateful that he was able to take the time amongst the madness to explain things to me and expose me to so many new ideas for things such as lighting, equipment, and how to mingle amongst/arrange subjects. I learned a great deal and loved that I got to meet and interact with many wonderful people on such an important day in their lives. It was awesome to be a part of it all and I'm so completely grateful to Christopher of Christopher David Photography for being willing to take me on as an assistant and for his availabilty to teach and explain the ins and outs of what he does. The opportunity means so much to me :)
